West Kowloon Cultural District publish RFI for new ticketing system

This week the West Kowloon Cultural District has published a Request For Information (RFI) document for a ticketing system.

At this stage the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD) has opted for a RFI rather than a formal tender to allow a wider range of solutions/options from suppliers. The WKCD is a new cultural hub funded by a HK$ 21.6 billion endowment from the Hong Kong Government. The aim of the WKCD is to boost cultural and entertainment establishments in Honk Kong. Located at the wedge-shaped waterfront reclaimed land west of Yau Ma Tei, the district will feature a new museum of visual culture, numerous theatres, concert halls and other performance venues

The WKCD is the largest arts and cultural project in Hong Kong to date. It aims to be developed as an arts and cultural hub with world-class facilities. Taking up 40 hectares, the district will include 17 core arts and cultural venues as well as space for arts education. This includes a new museum of visual culture, M+ Museum. The project will be developed in 2 phrases with construction scheduled to commence in 2013.

Request For Information

While the WKCD Authority is able to make use of the Government managed ticketing service URBTIX, it has made the offering of its own ticketing service a priority. The Authority therefore is inviting qualified respondents with substantial experience to respond in the first instance about suitable ticketing system solutions which will be operated by the Authority. The purpose of this RFI is to gain an understanding of what systems are available, their suitability and features, and to investigate different operational models. It is not envisaged that the operations will be outsourced unless a suitable business case can be made.
