Donations & Nominations #TBF24: The Forgotten War
April 2024 saw another fantastic edition for TheTicketingBusiness Forum raising much needed funds for our charity partner EMERGENCY.
This year the charity is turning the focus on The Forgotten War – the ongoing conflict in Sudan. After one year of war, Sudan has 6.5 million internally displaced people – the most IDPs of anywhere in the world – and 24.8 million people will need humanitarian assistance in 2024. Approximately 65% of the population has no access to healthcare and 70% of hospital facilities in the areas affected by the fighting are no longer functional.
At this year’s TheTicketingBusiness Forum (inManchester on 16-17 April) we encouraged donations of a ‘tenner’ to EMERGENCY’s onsite CollecTIN – which we agreed to match, as well as driving donations via our ‘Donations for Nominations’ campaigns to drive Awards entries. We promised that for every valid entry, we would donate £10 (€12/US$12) to support the work in conflict zones of EMERGENCY.
The CollecTIN raised £790, we agreed to match… so that’s a considerable £1,580 from the Forum.
We had 107 completed nomination entires this year… so that’s a donation of £1,070 making a total of £2,650 from this years Forum and Awards!
When we told Emergency what we had raised they put it into context for us – sufficient funds to run one of their ambulances in Afghanistan for two months. Or enough to provide prosthetic rehabilitations for 9 people in Iraq who have lost their legs. Not only did we have a fantastic event, but we raised these life-changing funds.
Alex Briggs, Fund Raising Manager at EMERGENCY adds: “With every event that Xperiology generously supports EMERGENCY UK, we are simply blown away by the kindness of Ian & Angelina and every single person that donates; and TheTicketingBusiness Forum & Awards 2024 was no exception.
“Every donation helps provide more people living in countries affected by conflict and poverty with free, high-quality care, that helps sustainably for the long-term by building hospitals and training local personnel. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so very much, we’re so excited for what the future holds for Xperiology and EMERGENCY UK!”
