Auditoriums Meet

NEW PROJECTS: The Music Palace, Vredenburg to be showcased at AuditoriumsMeet 2012

Delegates at AuditoriumsMeet 2012 will be able to explore the latest trends in venue design, financing, delivery and operations, with the return of the popular Drawing Board session in the programme for Edinburgh. This must-attend session showcases a special selection of new theatre, concert hall and arts venue projects from around the world; including The Music Palace (Muziekpaleis), Vredenburg.

Set to open in Utrecht, Netherlands in 2014, the new €140m venue (pictured) will house five performance spaces: the existing main hall of the Vredenburg Music Centre (capacity 1700) will be retained, alongside a new chamber music hall (550); a pop concert hall (2000); a cross-over room (500) and a jazz hall (250), as well as new café and restaurant facilities.

Three organisations; Vredenburg Music Centre, Tivoli and the SJU Jazzpodium will combine to operate the Palace, and present an event programme that combines the best of pop and dance, jazz, world and classical music.

And, at AuditoriumsMeet 2012 (30 October – 1 November 2012), Nanette Ris, Managing Director, Vredenburg Music Centre, and Margriet Van Kraats, Managing Director, Tivoli will take the stage to present the project to the international audience of live entertainment venues executives.

We are positioning the Music Palace to become a concert venue fit for the 21st century, a new sound for Utrecht, and a new national landmark,” commented Nanette Ris.

The Music Palace will connect and entertain a large and wide audience with a surprising, innovative and enriching offer of live music and entertainment.”

“We are tremendously excited by the project,” added Margriet Van Kraats “And we look forward to sharing with our colleagues at AuditoriumsMeet just how we aim to ‘Make It Happen’ in Utrecht in the coming months!”
