SPEAKER PREVIEW: Fast-Track and Value Engineering for a new stadium in Abu Dhabi

Awarded a design and build contract for a new stadium and multipurpose development in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, the constructors are facing fast-track deadlines and demanding Value Engineering challenges. The budget for the entire development is €145m and the timeline just 16 months – but how will the challenge be met?

This November, Steven Wilbrenninck, Managing Director, BAM Sports GmbH will join the international speaking line up at TheStadiumBusiness Design & Development Summit to explain just that.

Headquartered in Düsseldorf, BAM Sports develop, build and operate stadiums and arenas in Germany and around the world. This May, BAM Sports (together with sister company BAM International) was awarded the design and build contract for the new 25,000 multi-functional stadium in Al Ain (pictured), located approximately 150 kilometres east of Abu Dhabi in the UAE.

“It is a challenging project,” explains Wilbrenninck, “but a tremendously exciting one!”

“The scope of our work includes the construction of a multi-functional stadium with a gross floor area of 45,000 square metres.”

In addition BAM will build a six storey office building, a sports hall and external works comprising roads, car parking, playing fields and landscaping. The construction of the stadium will be a combination of structural steel and reinforced concrete on piled foundations (by others) with aluminium and composite external cladding and a palm bowl envelope.

“I am delighted to be sharing the project with my international colleagues in Warsaw this November,” continues Steven.

“We feel it is vital for the industry to come together at events such as these. BAM is honoured to be a part of the Summit programme.”

Steven Wilbrenninck presents the Al Ain stadium development only at TheStadiumBusiness Design & Development Summit 2012, 12-14 November, Warsaw, Poland.
