Building a legacy: #TDS24 and EMERGENCY
At this year’s Design & Development Summit (#TDS24) in Manchester, the focus wasn’t just on innovative stadium and venue design. For Xperiology, it was also about making a meaningful difference in the world, thanks to the generosity of our attendees and partners.
On-site fundraising
During the Summit, delegates ‘tapped to donate’ an impressive £1,940 and with TheStadiumBusiness team agreeing to match every onsite donation, our total fundraising reached £3,880 for the 12th edition of our Design & Development Summit.
“Just to put this into context, this sum is what it would cost to run one of our ambulances in Afghanistan for well over two months. On average some 10,000 patients every year need to use one of our ambulances,” explains Alex Briggs, EMERGENCY Fundraising Manager.
“It is just phenomenal the kind of difference that your support can make. And it’s a real testament to the communities that Xperiology’s events have created within the sectors it serves.”
Architecture to inspire… and heal
But it is apt that – much like our Design & Development Summit is focused on delivering great venues that leave a lasting legacy – EMERGENCY’s own work extends to leaving a sustainable healthcare solution in place, including the required facilities.
Donations from previous Xperiology events have previously contributed towards the Children’s Surgical Hospital in Entebbe, Uganda, designed by the renowned architect Renzo Piano. This world-class facility treats children from across Africa and exemplifies the transformative power of thoughtful design. With its energy-efficient architecture and patient-centred spaces, the hospital is a testament to how design can enhance lives – a theme that deeply resonates with the discussions at this month’s Design & Development Summit.
Just as stadiums & entertainment venues are designed to bring people together and create shared experiences, projects like the Entebbe hospital demonstrate how architecture can also help to heal and inspire.
By supporting EMERGENCY, the Design & Development Summit family – which includes architects, engineers and project developers – is helping to develop sustainable healthcare solutions that save lives today and pave the way for better futures. Thank you to all our #TDS24 delegates for their support.
