We’ve been rattling a very modern collection tin at our meetings – as well as driving donations via our Awards entries – in support of our charity partner EMERGENCY

At TheTicketingBusiness Forum 2023 – held in Manchester on 19-20 April – we encouraged donations of a ‘tenner’ to EMERGENCY’s branded, portable Collectin contactless ‘collecting tin’.

Our delegates gave generously throughout the conference – especially so during the Awards evening, with the charity’s powerful video explaining so clearly its (often unreported) vital work in war zones and disaster areas.

A total of £1,270 was collected from delegates and sponsors via the portable unit with Xperiology committing to fund-match the sum raised during the Forum. We rounded this up to £3,000, which garnered this response:

“This sum will fully run a First Aid Post in Afghanistan for over a whole month. These facilities are such important lifelines for Afghan people living in remote areas who otherwise would not have access to quality healthcare,” wrote Alex Briggs, Senior Fundraising Officer for EMERGENCY. “My thanks to TheTicketingBusiness‘ family – delegates, sponsors and partners – who gave so generously. What does this mean in reality. Well, Malang is just one of the stories that they will have funded.”

We went a step further for this year’s TheStadiumBusiness Summit 2023 where we incorporated a new “Donation for a Nomination” campaign to encourage entries from the readership of TheStadiumBusiness.com for this year’s TheStadiumBusiness Awards (and in turn, give back to EMERGENCY).

For every completed entry, Xperiology provided a donation of £5. Did this encourage more (completed) entries? Difficult to say but we acknowledged 161 fully-completed entries across the nine open Categories, which generated an £850 kick-off for the charity.

On-site at the Summit (28-29 June) at Emirates Old Trafford, the Collectin was again put into action, with our local event staff donning EMERGENCY t-shirts to encourage donations throughout the Summit and into the Awards evening. A further £1,140 was ‘tapped’ into the Collectin – which we matched and added the #Donations4Nominations sum to take the total donation to £3,310.

We’ll continue the Donations4Nominations campaigns for our forthcoming TheStadiumBusiness Design & Development Awards 2023 which open for nominations in August. Let’s see if the stadium design and build community is even more generous than ticketing practitioners and venue operators!
