Ian takes on the Three Peak Challenge

The GoPro has been charged, water has been packed and boots have been scrubbed… for today our Founder and CEO, Ian, is en route to take on the mighty Three Peaks Challenge.

Ian has spent the last year hiking at 5am every morning (come rine, shine or knee-deep mud) with his beloved hounds, Guinness and Nutello, by his side in preparation to tick the challenge off his bucket list.

The National Three Peaks Challenge sees participants attempt to climb the highest mountains of England, Scotland and Wales within 24 hours (phew!). Each peak is climbed in turn, and the group will be driven from the foot of one mountain to the next – and perhaps catch a little shut eye during the drive.

The three peaks that Ian will be climbing are:

  • Ben Nevis (1,344m), the highest mountain in Scotland
  • Scafell Pike (978m), the highest mountain in England
  • Snowdon (1,085m), the highest mountain in Wales

The total distance Ian’s group will walk is around 44km, with a total ascent of 3,000m. I think you’ll agree this will be no walk in the park for them.

As if he didn’t have enough to worry about, we’ve also tasked Ian with the very important job of planting the Xperiology flag at the summit of each peak – with photo evidence.

So from the rest of the XP team – who are leisurely sipping coffee this morning in the comfort of the office – we’d like to wish Ian, his walking team, Guinness and Nutello the very best of luck taking on this huge challenge. We know you can do it!

Check back next week to see how Ian and the team got on… we’re sure there will be plenty of photos.
