EURO2012 stadium delivery to be reviewed at Design & Development Summit

For its EURO 2012 tournament, UEFA initiated a comprehensive programme to support the development and management of the host venues in Poland and Ukraine.

In total eight major stadium schemes were completed across the two countries. And, guided by a team of internationally acclaimed experts on stadium construction and management, the UEFA programme saw significant resources invested in monitoring the stadium infrastructure projects, and providing ‘good practice’ advice to the stadium teams – not only to ensure the venues were delivered on time and to the required standard but also to help create a viable legacy beyond the tournament.

But what were the key findings from UEFA’s extensive monitoring? And what lessons can be carried forward for future stadium projects and mega-event facility planning?

At TheStadiumBusiness Design & Development Summit, Ben Veenbrink (Member of the UEFA Expert Panel Stadium Construction & Management and Principal, The Stadium Consultancy) and John Beattie (Member of the UEFA Expert Panel Stadium Construction & Management and Stadium & Facilities Director, Arsenal FC) will join the international speaking line up in Warsaw to offer a review of the development of the stadium infrastructure for EURO 2012.

Для проведения матчей Евро-2012, Лига Европы УЕФА инициировала комплексную программу поддержки проектов девелопмента и управления основными спортивными сооружениями в Польше и на Украине.

В общей сложности восемь основных спортивных комплексов, включающих стадионы, было завершено на территории двух стран. Под руководством команды всемирно признанных экспертов по строительству и управлению стадионами, программа УЕФА засвидетельствовала вложение значительных ресурсов в мониторинг проектов инфраструктуры стадионов. Помимо этого, она обеспечила возможность внедрения «лучших практик» для команд управленцев спорткомплексов, что обеспечило не только, и не столько введение сооружений в строй в намеченные сроки, в соответствии со стандартами, но и помогла создать возможность использования наследства турнира в жизнеспособном ключе и после окончания Евро-2012..

Но каковы были основные выводы из обширного мониторинга УЕФА? И какие из полученных уроков могут быть применены в будущих проектах стадионов и при планировании сооружений для мега-событий в спорте?
