What did you miss at TheStadiumBusiness Summit?
TheStadiumBusiness Summit 2015 – the sixth annual edition of the world’s largest meeting of stadium owners – drew to a close, and what a few days it was…
The Summit kicked off on the 9 June with Fan Experience Forum and Premium Seat Seminar, Europe’s leading meetings for fan engagement engineers and hospitality leaders, respectively.
The evening of the 9 June, delegates of #FXF15 and #PSS15 were joined by delegates of TheStadiumBusiness Summit for an International Drinks Reception – sponsored by international sports design leaders HOK. From Sangria and Cerveza to old faces and new acquaintances, The Hesperia Tower terrace was the perfect icebreaker.
Day 2 commenced with a welcome from Ian Nuttall, Founder, TheStadiumBusiness, who welcomed the 350+ delegates from over 30 different countries worldwide.
The first session, was a memorable one… Chris Giles, Director of Business Operations at San Francisco 49ers showcased the Levi’s Stadium Sales Suite Success and how the first NFL season in the new stadium went above and beyond their expectations.
A special mention must go to Oracle, one of our headline sponsors, for Lunch in the Marketplace and to Monster Jam for the afternoon Ice Cream Break!
Enric Garcia, Head of Stadium at FC Barcelona ended day one of the Summit with a fascinating insight into Camp Nou as a tourism driver – in particular, how they have managed to turn it into a tourist destination with over 7.5million visitors every year. Now, that’s something to aspire to, isn’t it?
Shortlisted finalists, industry leaders and delegates of the Summit attended TheStadiumBusiness Awards 2015 at the home of FC Barcelona. Congratulations to all of the winners! Take a look here.
The final day of the Summit kicked off with a look into how Lancashire CCC and the England & Wales Cricket Board have been “batting ahead of the secondary market”. Daniel Gidney, CEO, Lancashire County Cricket Club explained how they have rewritten their ticketing terms and conditions.
Another of our headline sponsors, Logipix, sponsored lunch in ‘The Marketplace’ – our compact mini-exhibition of specially-selected suppliers. Featuring product demonstrations, lots of interaction and open debate, it gave delegates the chance to really grow their venue businesses.
What better way to close TheStadiumBusiness Summit 2015 in Barcelona than a Project Update from FC Barcelona’s Nou Espai Barca Project Manager, Bill Mannarelli. Bill talked us through the project plan thus far, including the expansion and remodelling of Camp Nou, the new 12,000 seat basketball arena, practice courts, ice rinks, revamped offices and more.
