Tamara raised over £200 for Battersea!
A little while ago we told you Tamara had signed up to get covered in mud with her pooch to raise money for Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, by taking part in The Muddy Dog Challenge.
Well, she did it. And, they weren’t lying about it being muddy!
Tamara said: “I was really looking forward to doing the run with Nico – she’s always made a concerted effort to get as dirty as possible whenever we’re out walking so I figured she’d enjoy it too!
The obstacles were great fun and very varied. Dogs and humans of all ages and abilities were taking part and the atmosphere was fantastic and supportive – and the bonus was all the beautiful dogs to meet on the day.
There were a couple of tough obstacles; wading through waist high thick mud was harder than it looked, and – although Nico is a sled dog and bred for pulling – she kind of let me down when she was supposed to pull me up the muddy bank, so I had to scramble up myself whilst she jumped around excitedly.
The organisation and communication was fantastic both before and during the day. Runners were given start times and a time to arrive and so there was no waiting, no confusion and the volunteers were the most cheerful people I’ve met in a long time.
I’m so pleased we managed to more than double the sponsorship target, can’t wait for the next one!”
The total figure raised by all participants came to more than £75,000.
Fellow dog lovers, head on over to the Muddy Dog Challenge website to find out about next year.
