MEET BLUE MAN GROUP AT THE LEVEL SUMMIT 2013
We are delighted to welcome Jack Kenn, VP/General Manager for Blue Man Group as an attendee to The LEVEL Summit 2013.
Having presented at last year’s AuditoriumsMEET (now rebranded The LEVEL Summit 2013), Jack looks to meet those who are also working within the entertainment industry, find out how venue operators are using their space, and how to bring their entertainment group to a wider audience.
We spoke to Jack on new venue opportunities and his plans for the future.
LVL13: Describe who you are and what you do:
JK: My name is Jack Kenn and I am the Vice President/General Manger for Blue Man Group.
LVL13: What made you register for The LEVEL Summit 2013 and what are you hoping to gain from the Summit?
JK: I met several of you last year when I attended AuditoriumsMEET in Edinburgh representing Cirque du Soleil. This year, I am here with Blue Man Group and I can’t wait to connect, or in some cases, reconnect with you, to introduce you to this amazing live entertainment experience.
For those of you that don’t know, Blue Man Group is best known for our popular theatrical shows and concerts which combine music, comedy and multimedia theatrics. We have many shows world-wide and are extremely proud of our successful show in Berlin now celebrating its 10th year.
We are currently exploring sharing that success by creating sit down and touring opportunities in Europe. Our goal is to bring our entertainment life force to other markets in a larger way.
Selective spending
LVL13: How would you describe the changes in customer behaviour within the last five years?
JK: The major trend we’ve noticed is that more and more consumers are purchasing last minute; often at times within two days of the performance. Customers are also more selective about their purchase doing quite a bit of online research before buying.
They want to make sure that they are getting a good value and that they are having a great entertainment experience at the same time.
LVL13: What is the one piece of advice you would give entertainment venues across the world?
JK: It is always ideal when we operate in partnership with our venues. If the relationship is working well, both sides get the opportunity to engage in meaningful communication about the issues that really matter.
Whether we are discussing customer demographics, sales channels, or the technical rider, when we work together; we put on the best event possible. Teamwork truly provides the best result!
