ATTENDANCE UPDATE: Japan Sports Council joins the Design & Development Summit

In the week when the first round of selections was made for its new National Stadium Design Competition, representatives of the Japanese Sport Council are among the latest stadium business development professionals to sign up to attend TheStadiumBusiness Design & Development Summit 2012 (12-14 November, Warsaw, Poland).

Scheduled for completion in 2018, the new 80,000 seat National Stadium of Japan will serve as a host venue for the country’s staging of the 2019 Rugby World Cup, and will also form part of Tokyo’s bid for the 2020 Olympic Games.

The Japan Sport Council announced the design competition for the venue earlier this year, with entry restricted to those practices that had had experience of designing a stadium with a capacity of 15,000 or more, and whom had been recipients of the Pritzker Prize, an AIA gold medal, UIA gold medal, Praemium Imperiale or RIBA gold medal.

From 46 entries, eleven practices have been selected to proceed to the second and final round, with the announcement of the results and award ceremony scheduled for mid and late November respectively.

And, we are delighted to welcome Mr. Mitsuhiko Kusaka, Division Manager, The New National Stadium Planning and Construction Project and Ms. Yoko Sakuragi, Manager, to TheStadiumBusiness Design & Development Summit 2012 as the Japan Sport Council looks to enhance its knowledge, and develop the venue and operational planning for the new national stadium.

JOIN US IN WARSAW! With a compact exhibition located adjacent to the main conference rooms – plus site visits to two new, world-class stadiums – the total focus of TheStadiumBusiness Design & Development Summit 2012 is knowledge-transfer and networking.
